Veteran Services

The Veterans Service Officer (VSO) helps veterans and their families access benefits and services from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and other agencies. As an agent accredited with the VA, the VSO provides:

    • Advocacy: Representing claimants in preparing and presenting disability claims
    • Counseling and technical assistance: Providing information about available benefits, programs, and services
    • Liaison: Acting as a liaison between veterans and the VA
    • Referral: Providing referrals to other agencies 

 

The VSO helps with specific issues, such as:

    • Service-connected disability claims
    • Facilitating care with VA medical centers and clinics
    • Transportation to VA-approved medical appointments 
    • Burial and survivor benefits
    • Non-service connected pension
    • Hardship loan and grant applications
    • Education, VA-backed home loans, and life insurance
