Dunn County Young Farmer Grant
General Announcement:
The Dunn County Jobs Development Authority will be accepting application as of January 1, 2024. Qualifying applicants must be between the ages of 18-40 and are required to live in Dunn County and operate their Agricultural business within Dunn County. Awardees will receive a total of $5,000 in the spring of 2024. Once awarded, funds must be utilized within 12 months and may be used to match other grant or cost share opportunities.
2024 Grant award decisions will be announced in March of 2024 and are limited to available funds.
What can a Young Farmer Grant do?
Young Farmer Grants are designed to provide a flexible boost to young farmers building long-term careers in agriculture. This fund can be used for anything that will further your goals as a farmer, even if that means just getting started. The goal of this fund is to provide financial assistance for any cost that currently limits your ability to start, run, or grow your operation in the way you’d like.
Utilization of these funds may be geared toward projects that provide creative solutions to farm labor, Natural Resource Stewardship, economic diversification of your farm or ranching operation, as well as use of modern technology to improve workflow or production. Grant funding may support completing a project, be applied towards the purchasing a new piece of equipment, covering operating costs such as seeds and compost, building new infrastructure, attending a farmer training program or conference, or hiring additional farm labor.
Applicant Qualifications:
- The applicant must live in Dunn County.
- The applicant must have an ownership interest in a farming or ranching operation located in Dunn County. Applicants who do not own the land upon which they operate must provide documentation through a use agreement from the property owner.
- Applicants must be least 18 and not over 40 years of age as of January 1, 2024.
